San Francisco

The glowing boxes
gainst elegant blue sky
wails, forbidden

Crooning loneliness, alone,
and this, hill.
Skeptical wet obstacles
slide in, slide out

Until the clouds put their
purple dresses on

A Poem

It was after reading a pack of poems
that I crawled downstairs
slinked out of my skin
and slid next to you in bed
and I experienced a poem.
raw imagery felt hard and pure and
I can't believe it, but I cried
and it looked like you might cry any
second, just the way a poem does
and you were something that pricked
and licked the core of my being
you were seeing into my soul
which lay open at the bottom of
a well of blankets and curly hair.

Meditation

and where do you find yourself but inside
yourself, floating face-down on the still
lake surface of consciousness good morning.
and where do you find others but tapping
on your shoulder, you lift your head dripping
wet and make eye contact and know
they have their own lakes
and where do you go with them but layered
lakes that you try to balance a boat on
big enough for all the love you feel
for each other within around too much we're
sinking.
and into everyone's mixed up lakes we
fall and try to understand and meanwhile,
somewhere, you're still floating face-down.
Good morning.
